8/11/26 Midwest Storms
Strong thunderstorms are moving across the Midwest today as a cold front collides with hot, humid air. The storms are capable of producing damaging wind gusts, torrential rainfall, frequent lightning, large hail, and isolated tornadoes. Heavy rain may lead to localized flash flooding, hazardous travel, and scattered power outages as the storm system tracks east through the afternoon and evening.
7/27 Midwest Severe Weather
Severe thunderstorms swept across the Midwest on July 27, bringing destructive winds, large hail, heavy rain, and tornadoes. Widespread tree and power line damage caused more than 500,000 power outages across multiple states. Utility crews responded throughout the event to restore service as storms continued moving east.
Bertha
Tropical Storm Bertha remained a relatively weak and short lived tropical system that ultimately produced only minor impacts across portions of the Gulf Coast. While the storm brought periods of heavy rain, gusty winds, rough surf, and localized flooding, it failed to intensify into a significant weather event due to persistent wind shear and limited organization. Bertha weakened quickly after landfall and dissipated with minimal widespread damage, making it a low-impact storm from both a meteor
7/3 Severe Storms
Two rounds of severe thunderstorms swept the Midwest and Northeast over the July 4th weekend, fueled by extreme heat along the edge of a sprawling heat dome. The first round struck July 3, hitting Michigan hardest with gusts near 80 mph and over 450,000 customers out. The second swept from the Plains to the mid-Atlantic July 4–5, pushing combined outages near one million. Crews and mutual assistance resources worked through the holiday into the following week to restore power.
6/17 Severe Weather
6/17 8AM: Severe weather is expected to impact multiple states over the next couple of days as we monitor 2 separate weather systems. The first one beginning in Iowa/ Illinois and stretching through to PA. Storm Line Crews have already deployed to multiple Utilities to assist with anticipated power disruption. The 2nd one is invest 90 in the southern states which would be this seasons firs tropical storm. We are monitoring this as it develops to determine risk of power disruption.
